Akaki Adventist School is one of experianced & well known schools run and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church around the world. It was established in 1943 by Mr. Herbet Hanson, a Norwegian missionary and the first Principal of the School. The School is located 20km of south of Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia on a beautiful hill near Akaki town. It is situated on about 124,000m2 of land.

Originally, the School was meant only for boys and was called "Akaki Boys". After seven years of service it became a co-educational institution and started to give full flagged educational service for young people around the country.

Since its inception, the School has passed through various developmental stages. At the beginning it opened its door only for 70 students and 10 staff (both teaching non-teaching). Currently, the number of students is reached more than 2350 and about 210 workers. It started with elementary school only. Now it operates from KG to College preparatory level. It also believes that this knowledge is imparted to human beings through nature, inspired writings and Christ himself. Furthermore, believing in the equality of human beings, the School accepts and admits students regardless of gender, ethnic origin, religion, social status etc and provides all rights and privileges without discrimination.


Akaki Adventist School teaches its pupils not only to excel academically but also to develop the power of their creativity in order to solve the problems they face in their daily life.
